There is no fog in this war, only...ruse.
And i say that because the controls are very very easy and fast without being muddled.
Id even say that this is the most realistic RTS in terms of the subject material.
If you have any interest in the events of world war 2 its battles or even in many modern military enterprises, than this game represents accurately id say fighting at say a battalion level.
I really like how certain vehicles are or are not available based on the year of your set piece battle. (1939, 1942, 1945). And how units are generated at the individual level, all but infantry anyways. I like that you can hide certain infantry and reconnaissance units, including anti tank guns. And that realistically armored vehicles (and all units) can get destroyed with one hit from a static anti tank gun. Different from the usual "hit point" style of other rts game units.
Theres so much to like here, units break if they match up against "tougher" opponents, you can drop in paratroops to capture air fields or supply dumps, the later of which are you resources. And the little details like the hindering of convoys moving to and from enemy supply points to their head quarters,
down to the radio banter among friendly units.
I was startled by the blast of the artillery and the scream of incoming and outgoing rounds. It was really loud down close, in the stink of the battle field.
The only part that feels a bit silly is the fact a person can field so much air power with never any wheather conditions stopping you. Its Knit picking though. The maps are large the AI good and the on line excellent.
The ruses are all diverse and the list of special "stuff" icludes other things like spy's or decription and even camoflage for bases.
I honestly feared that the game would be a chore to figure out, but was surprised how fast and simple it was to get into. This is i would say definatly one of the best of the console RTS games available, and ive played a good many of them. Its my favorite military one any way.
So bottom line, if you like RTS games, and have a desire for a more acurate military one, then you will really like this game. They made a good one, and thats no ruse.
