A good game can be found among the mass of bad points

Well, the wait for a Rugby League game on the PlayStation Portable is finally over, and although I wish i could say it was worth the wait, it simply wasn't. The game has countless areas in which it could, and should be improved.

The first point I would like to make is on the matter of Stadia. The game only features two real world stadia, Old Trafford (which is used for the Super League Grand Final) and Telstra Stadium (which is used for the NRL Grand Final). Any other game will be played on an area of grass, surrounded only by four badly-designed terraces.

Another of the more serious flaws with the game is that each team only comes with their home kit, there are not away/alternate kits. Which as you can imagine makes game play extremely difficult when the two teams wear similar coloured jerseys. This is a key mistake.

I could go on and on about the countless other areas in which they game could be improved, no video referee, no cut-out passes, no ability to scoot so on and so forth, but frankly, I've had it with the negativity by now, so let's have a look at the good aspects of the game shall we?

Despite all the problems which I have listed above, the game play is intensively addictive, when you have found a good difficulty level to suit your playing ability. And I would encourage anybody, especially rugby league fans to play the game.

Good points about the game:
Fully licensed 2009 teams and players from the Super League and NRL
Addictive game play
Good camera angles
Season play option
Ability to upgrade players in season mode

Bad points about the game:
Only 2 real world stadia
No away kits
No video ref decisions
No option for cut-out pass
No option to scoot
No substitutes/reserve team players
No multiplayer feature

Scores:
Graphics - 5/10
Game play - 6.5/10
Audio - 6/10
Multiplayer - N/A

Summary:
6.5/10, there is a good game among the mass of negative features
