The game is good, the premise is good. The frustrating play over is horrendous. You get a little better each time? not quite. more like 2 steps forward two back. In 20 hours I'm still in the first 5-8 blocks of playing area. This is bad. Losing your gold, ok but since it takes five runs to buy anything this gets real old, is there and easy option so us non button mashers can have a little fun, no, non- existant. Yes I am being hard on the game because I liked it, but after 5 days and finally getting gear, I find my gear makes my character worse - not better. Fairy chest challenges, boss challenges? might as well just die before I try them. I'm giving up and cutting my losses, will check back in a few months to see if anything changed. If not - this was a clear waste of talent on a good game that seems to want to emulate the impossible games of the 70's, even those allowed a save point so you really could move a little bit further each time. Not into impossible overly time consuming games anymore as its been proven you can have fun with just a good challenge and simple forward movement. Lock it down and lose 40 percent - that went over so well I did it twice before realizing my chances of doing any sort of upgrade also went down 40 percent, the chests are empty where you were - getting to new ones? might as well play a new castle. Or better yet settle on a good one where you can at least walk around over 2 minutes before you die rinse and repeat. All the parts to make a great game are here, they just need someone else to put them together so they work better and a start would be a free option to lock castle and let us keep the gold. Christ you raise the costs so much even that wont lesson the difficulty that much and maybe just maybe we could see the other parts of the game you worked so hard on creating.
I have not gotten hooked this badly on a indie game since FTL. This game is as close to perfect as an arcade game can get. Its basically a castle-dungeon-explorer with an awesome twist. You die, a lot. and when you... Read Full Review
