An absolutely wild idea that makes for an amazing game.

Of all the great games that came out in 2015, one of the biggest surprises of the year was "Rocket League." A game released as online multiplayer-focused games were starting to become big, "Rocket League" took an insane idea of having fast cars playing the most insane game of soccer ever. It's absolutely bizarre, but it surprisingly worked, and it became a viral sensation that has remained strong to this day. Just a few years later, the game also received a port for the Nintendo Switch, and it was an early showcase that Nintendo was looking for third-party support with their new console, something the Wii U had lacked. And I'm glad the Switch got the game, because it's an amazing time.

"Rocket League" takes its bizarre concept and executes it amazingly: the driving controls are fluid, and even though the game takes some getting used to, the fast and frantic nature of it makes it extremely exciting. The multiplayer fun of the game is absolutely there, but it's still a joy to play in single player, as the AI is challenging enough and there's a good amount of modes to keep you interested. The visuals are also excellent, as the color and detail within each stadium is just a wonder to behold. And this Switch port does nothing to dampen the experience, as the game is still as dazzling and smooth as ever, whether you are playing it docked or in handheld mode.

I honestly really can't complain about too much with the game. I suppose I can warn that it takes a little bit to learn the game and get used to it, but otherwise, the game is so fun and so easy to get hooked into that you won't mind losing here and there.

Overall, "Rocket League" is an inventive idea that's executed excellently to create an amazing game. It's easy to get hooked into, and it's just way too much fun. And no matter what system you play it on, you're gonna get an amazing experience out of it. And with the game having recently gone free-to-play, what better time than the present to jump in? Go ahead and give it a whirl!
