1st Impressions: Roboblitz is a very lengthy and ambitious game for Xbox Live Arcade. It's fun, but can get dull quickly

The Good: Unreal Engine 3 looks nice, game is pretty lengthy, puzzles are enjoyable.

The Bad: Not worth 1,200 M$ points, combat and controls aren't that good, no multiplayer mode, enemies are pretty bland.

Roboblitz is the second non-classic arcade game to be released on Xbox Live Arcade in the last few weeks. That being said, it's actually a pretty fun and enjoyable action/puzzle game, but it's problems and high pricetag keep it from being better than it turned out to be. You play as Blitz, a robot who must save a space station by solving puzzles in various rooms and getting the machines inside of them to work again. This is a fairly bland, but good plot that gives Roboblitz a more Nintendo-like feel. The visuals of Roboblitz are pretty impressive, thanks to the wonderful Unreal Engine 3, and the sound effects are also very well done, but several things drag Roboblitz down from being a stellar arcade release.

For starters, the controls are tough to get use to and master. The sticks are a bit too sensitive, so you constantly have to adjust the camera. The puzzles are fun, but can get dull after a while. The actual combat is bland, at least from the begining of the game it is. You only can throw stuff at enemies or do a spin move, or fire a stun gun that knocks out an enemy, then gives you time to get away before they wake up again. There also isn't a multiplayer mode, which would have been cool, but it still is worth playing even as a single player only game. The fact is, this game is fun, but it has it's share of problems and it is definately not worth the 1,200 points you have to pay for it. Overall, it's a fun game that is a unique addition to XBLA, but it's a bit too pricy for me to strongly recomend.

Gameplay: Puzzle solving is fun, but controls and bland combat make it a bit less appealing.

Graphics: One of the best looking XBLA games out right now.

Sound: The sound effects are also very well done.

Value: It's definately not worth the 1,200 points you have to pay for it, so buy at your own risk.
