Surprisingly fun strategy game.

I'm not typically a fan of WWII games, but this one won me over. I love strategy games like Kessen and Nobunaga's Ambition and this one is actually more fun than was Kessen. The mech fights in this game are usually at distance according to the game, but when it really came down to it, in the end, my strategy heavily involved melee combat. The strategy in this game is both real-time and board game based with regards to position/initiative/sequence.

Several aspects of this game made me stick with it. First is that you can earn superior troops in the game if your strategy gets you to them first. For whatever reason, this kept me playing so that I could have a more powerful team for each of my mechs. this game takes about 50 hours, no joke and it demands a long commitment from you when playing each stage. Several hours per stage.

The storyline isn't bad, and neither are the graphics and sound, but those elements are what makes the game. The troops combination strategies you can form with each mech and the cohesive strategy you eventually (and necessarily) form when playing the game are the jewels of this game.

This game can be bought for cheap, being that its a bit old. If you like strategy games, then you will likely enjoy this game. If you like mech games like ZOE2 or mechwarrior, although its not the same, it's certainly a plus towards liking this game.
