Ridge Racer 3D, nothing new, well except in 3D! Here's my review of it!

User Rating: 8.5 | Ridge Racer 3D 3DS
Now, the last review i did was several months ago, so i've had some time to get myself a 3DS, play on a few games and review them. However, i'm not here to review Mario 3D Land, simply because i don't own the game, so Ridge Racer 3D will have to do for now. I bought this game as recommended by Gamespot, which was in my range in terms on what i had to spend on a 3DS game.

This may be a cheap game, but it certainly doesn't miss out the Immersive 3D it came to achieve on the 3DS, even at its low cost of a tenner. Car's falling apart and throwing the scraps in your face, and water too! I was very pleased with the 3D effects the game had to offer, which is why the rating is 1.5 more that Gamespot game reviewers gave it, simply because of how well it worked in 3D.

The game itself features a single player mode in which you can either do a time attack run on you unlocked courses OR you can race against other people in a grand prix. and when i say people, i mean previous characters from previous Namco Games from the past. yes, even the pesky pacman ghosts. The Multiplayer mode allows you to play with against a friend who MUST have the same game. It utilizes the Streetpass technology and downloads time trial ghosts too, but, again BOTH of you need the same copy of the game in order for it to work.

You have a garage too, which allows you to view your purchased cars and purchase more if you wand and such other things like Nitro kit replacements etc. That being said the graphics are not anything special but has incredible detail when you zoom in up close and personal.

The only MAJOR downside about this game is that it could've utilized the Download play as an option too, instead of the strict rule of having both people having Ridge Racer 3D in order to play, though, in all fairness, the game is, like i said at the start, a tenner or so, but i would've liked to have seen that option as to play with people who could just temporarily download the game to play with you. It worked for Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 7, so why Not Ridge Racer 3D. more than 2 players may have been nice too on the multiplayer option might've been nice too, but at least they put the option in anyways.

All in all, it deserved the 8.5 i gave it. Though nothing has changed since Ridge Racer 7, The 3D effect just blew me away, and so did the game. Though the game isn't perfect for online multiplayer, it doesn't stop Namco trying....well done sirs...you have won my heart as my first 3DS game...for now......
