Best free game ever!

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory is the best free game ever in my opinion. It was supposed to become a full retail game with a singleplayer and a multiplayer part. Unfortunately the singleplayer part never made progress. Only the multiplayer part got ready for launch date. id Software and Splashdamage had to make a decision. Delay the game like Duke Nukem Forever, cancel it or release it for free. I'm very glad that they released it for free. RTCW multiplayer has been great, but Enemy Territory made it even greater with classes like the Covert Ops, escortable tanks, constructible ramps etc. They added fast http download of mods and custom maps. Today we have very good mods like Noquarter or Jaymod that add new weapons, sounds new features. Tons of excellent custom maps like Venice, Bridges, Vesuvius, Adlerhorst, Tram Fight, Temple and many many more. This kind of customization makes this game a new experience all the time. It can vary from server to server as administrators have full flexibility of configuring their server.
Wolfenstein Enemy Territory is based on the Quake 3 Arena engine. Sure, you don't get the latest special effects of modern graphic cards in the game, but would you even notice them in this fast game play? I don't think so. The custom maps I mentioned have great design and use the latest compiling tricks to simulate radiosity, bump mapping, high resolution textures and other effects. The old engine has also a nice side effect. It will run on old PCs and even on an old Notebook. In the game playes use so called voice commands. These pre-defined voices make the multiplayer matches an unforgettable experience. They give the game character, help the team to communicate and advance in the map. Simply great.
