The game is challenging for a little while.

The opening sequence to this game in my mind is absolutely beautiful. The graphics in this game are very arguable, for most people are biased to what Western games appear as: burly, grotesque characters in gorgeous, resplendent colors.

The anime style in this game fits perfectly, and the dark, gritty, steampunk atmosphere really gives you a complete sense of realism.

You're immediately thrown into the life of a hunter, alongside your leader, Vashyron, and the woman you saved in the opening sequence, Leanne. As you can tell, I am personifying Zephyr as the main character.

As the story progresses, you can tell that Zephyr and Leanne are the base of the story, with Vashryon as the supporting role. Even though he is the leader and the one at default you control (you can switch who you control), he is by no means a leading man.

The game relies on the many sidequests you will receive throughtout the course of the game like most JRPGS. Following the tradition of JRPGS, there are some very well thought out sidequests with some far relation to the story, but there are also mindless scavenger quests.

The difficulty in this game may be staggering at first, but like all games, as you level up and progress, the difficulty gets lower and lower.

Some people have been criticizing the characters' designs or their posture in some way. Every article of clothing, eye color, and accessories are fully customizable, so to intentionally point out subtle flaws is just nitpicky.

Weapon customization is actually not really needed in this game, save for the SMG user. Handguns are essentially used as landing the final hit in battles. The battle system is very... revolutionary, I guess I could say. The system does get tedious after a while. You will be using Hero actions every turn, every fight, every time. Don't argue with me on this. It's the fastest, most efficient way to defeat an enemy. The animations are entertaining and energetic, but it loses its spark after about fifty hours of gameplay.

This game is by no means story-driven from the get-go, you are merely doing your job as a hunter while the characters are introduced fully. The story does get expanded and it is a nice idea, but it's not... gripping. I honestly had forgotten some of the story elements until the next chapter a few times.

I've noticed some people have been complaining about the music score in this game. The music is phenomenal. The music has to mesh with the environment and mood at the time, which this game does to an excellent degree, unlike another big-name RPG that came out earlier. Back on topic: The music is exceptional. Mine 24 has a beautiful song you will enjoy while in that dungeon. I guarantee you that.

My final words:

Resonance of Fate is an addictive game for a short time. The originality does wear out after a while. The story is forgettable, the characters are well done, especially the voices, the game is humorous, and the game is challenging for a little while.

I bid you adieu.
