Makes a nice touch for the PSP, fans would actully enjoy this more if they didn't like Resistance 2.

User Rating: 7.5 | Resistance: Retribution PSP
Its not often we get to see a good thrid-person shooter for the PSP , where some games in the past have not been a success for the system. Resistance Retribution on the other hand is actully pretty good for a shooter on the handheld device. Both Resistance games have been a huge success for the Playstation 3 since the release back in 2006 and 2008 with Resistance 2.

Main story plot for Retribution takes lace between Resistance 1 and 2; Two months before the Chimera's central tower in London is destroyed and their armies are defeated in Britain, British Royal Marine Lieutenant James Grayson finds his brother Johnny partially converted into a Chimera while on a mission to destroy one of the Chimeran conversion centres. Grayson goes on a rampage on his own taking down the Chimera Towers but is on trail however for not following orders and is held captured until further notice. Grayson is visited by Lieutenant Raine Bouchard who tells him that there are Chimera Towers across Europe and needed to be destoryed in exchange for his freedom.

Gameplay: As I mention before controls can feel a little fiddly if you ever hav played shooters on a handheld, Resistance however does a pretty good job on its controls. Your using the analog stuck to move and triangle, circle, square and X for where you need to aim at enemies in front of you. You use the R button for firing your gun, it can take some use to if your using other weapons or using grenades or certain turret guns. Instead of pressing buttons to lock against cover, it will automatically lock the player to cover when your near cover.

Your health is a non-replenishing life bar where you can really re-heal yourself after getting hit a few times, you would have to find some health packs to keep your health up. Certain levels you'll be able to swim through certain places you can't get to and when your swimming under water you can only use certain weapons buts only if your underwater.

Graphics and Sound: They look pretty decent for a handheld game unlike the PS3 version of Resistance 1 and 2 look impressive, the PSP version however makes a great touch. A few murky places here and there but won't really bother you while playing through but you do get to visit certain places across Europe like Paris, Luxembourg and Bonn. There can be a few awkward moments when covering or trying to move to an area but the camera can be in the way or large enemies blocking the top half of the screen.

The voicing is a mix of British and French accent which some players might not have no clue certain charcters or saying or what certain words mean in British English like "Bob's your uncle" or "governor" but Resistance Fall of Man had the same as well fans of the series will enjoy the odd British humor here and there. The soundtrack is rousing and atmospheric making you want to play more.

Overall: Beating the main campaign can take at least 7-10 hours pending on what difficulty setting you play the game and how much you want to get out of a Resistance game. You can go back and forth levels and missions if you want to get more skill points for doing various killing sprees. Multiplayer is also added where you can play up to 8 players online or if you have 8 friends who have this game for the PSP. There's multiplayer matches like Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Containment, Free For All and Assimilation.

Fans of the series would enjoy Retribution but I wouldn't say thats its worth getting at full price your best bet is finding it cheap in your nearest bargin bin because it is a short game but has a lot to offer.
