Resistance 2 is fun but it doesn't live up to Fall of Man.

Resistance 2 is a fun game but its nowhere nearly as good as Resistance Fall of Man. Resistance 2 takes out things that I loved about the first game such as campaign co-op' the weapon wheel and the grim dark tone. Also the feel of the first game has been completely dropped in favor of a more modern feel like say Call of Duty. But despite the changes made to Resistance 2 I still found it to be an enjoyable first person shooter that's worth playing if your a fan of the Resistance games.

Lets start off with the good

The single player campaign is action packed and lasts more than 8 hours and the weapons have a nice feel to them and are a blast to shoot. The Ai is just as intelligent as they were in the first game making for some intense firefights because they will try to flank you or just rush you if your not careful. There's also some huge bosses you will encounter throughout the campaign and the designs for these bosses are really cool for example there's a chimera mixed with a t-rex. Unlike most first person shooters this generation where they lack incentive to return to the single player Resistance 2 has cheats you can fool around with and an arcade mode just like in Call of Duty 4.

Now for the bad.

Like I said there's no campaign co-op witch is a shame because I liked having a friend tag along with me while we blast some chimera in the face but instead its been replaced with some 8 player co-op mode that's separate from the story and takes place in different locations. In this mode you do different types of objectives like eliminating enemies in a area or taking out some big boss, its fun for while but gets repetitive and dry.

The lack of a weapon wheel is also disappointing, it limits my freedom of choice on how I want to approach a firefight. I find it weird how Insomniac created all those awesome weapons but would only allow you to carry 2 weapons at a time and sometimes you wont always be sure what gun to take with you since you don't always know what lies ahead, making for some occasional frustrating trial and error.

Like I said before the feel for Resistance 2 is completely different from the first game, it has more of COD feel to it witch will possibly turn off fans of the original game.

Overall Resistance 2 is a fun romp that's worth playing but it just cant live up to its predecessor due to the significant amount of changes made witch is one of Resistance 2's biggest downfalls.

-Action packed campaign that last more than 8 hours
-Guns have a nice feel to them and are fun to shoot
-Cool and huge bosses to fight
-Ai is intelligent making for some intense firefights

Cons:
-No campaign co-op
-No weapon wheel
-8 player co-op gets repetitive and dry
-The game has a different feel witch may turn fans of the original off
