Personally not a huge Resident Evil fan, but I thoroughly enjoy Revelations.

User Rating: 8 | Resident Evil: Revelations WIIU
Disclaimer: I have not yet completed the game, but I am a few hours into it, and have played Resident Evil 4 which is very similar.

After the huge Resident Evil 6 debacle, I was a little skeptical about buying any other Resident Evil games. I loved Resident Evil 4, but I could never get into it for the slower paced stop-and-shoot style; and from what I have witnessed RE 6 was too much action and steered very far from Resident Evil's legendary horror roots. After finally deciding to pick the game up, I am extremely pleased.

Game play - (8.5/10): I own the Wii U version of Revelations and one of the things that I really enjoy is the pace of the game. Revelations plays like a mix of RE 4 and RE 6, where in order to shoot you must be aiming, but you are able to move while you are aiming instead of being sedentary while zooming. This is equal around all platforms, but one thing I believe the Wii U version has a leg up on compared to the other console versions is the ability to make the gamepad the display screen, allowing you to play while your family may be watching TV. Controls are great and very easy to get a handle for.

Graphics - (9/10): The graphics of this game are fantastic. Now, when I say fantastic, I mean they look very good. but of course they don't compare to the cutting edge graphics of a high end graphics card in a decked out computer. But, despite that, they do look very good, especially on the Wii U gamepad.

Story - (6.5/10): I would say that the story is not Revelations strong point. But let me clarify that this is coming from someone who has plugged many hours into games such as Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Mass Effect, etc. And the story isn't awful either, more just a classic, very basic Resident Evil story line if you are familiar with the series. Despite this being a weak point in the game, it doesn't detract at all from the enjoyment of the game overall.

Sweet Spots: The big sweet spot for me in Revelations is one of the modes where you go through different maps that you have unlocked by completing campaign missions, and fight through waves of monsters to reach the end of the level. The mode itself is nothing special, but what stuck out to me was the fun of finding and buying different weapon upgrades, in addition to using "funds" you receive after missions to buy new weapons.

Bummers: One bummer about Revelations is the inability to play splitscreen, which I was hoping to be able to play with friends. You are still able to play multiplayer online, but I personally prefer splitscreen.

Overall - (8/10): Overall I give this game an 8 out of 10. This is definitely a title that should be in every RE fan and Third-person shooter fan's library. The game is fun, enjoyably frightening, and the perfect pace.
