If Micheal Bay made a video game I'm sure it would have less explosions than Red Faction Guerrilla.

Believe the hype!!!! Red Faction Guerrilla easily has the best destruction I've ever seen in a game before. I know a lot of games have hyped their destruction before and disappointed gamers, but in my opinion they didn't hype the destruction for this game enough. I really can't say enough about how awesome the destruction is in this game, and it's even in multiplayer.

Ok that being said I'm going to talk about the rest of the game. The campaign story isn't bad "per se", but it definitely feels lacking. The side missions are pretty much broken into go here then kill the EDF, or destroy said target. The missions are loads of fun, but they don't really reveal too much about the story, and they don't really vary too much. As for the regular missions they are better than the side missions, but still a bit lacking in objectives, and they don't really shake up the kill/destroy mentality. Also this game is a bit on the hard side. Often in the middle of a mission I'd feel like the EDF had become Left 4 Dead zombie hoard w/ guns. Luckily there are a ton of weapons to choose from, and even more upgrades to those weapons. On the down side you can only carry 4 of these weapons at a time, and some ammo can be a bit scarce. A lot of things blow up in this game, and I was really impressed on how well the 360 could handle these physics. The game looks pretty nice w/ a lot of unique vehicles, and terrain. Though some areas are fairly barren it's way more interesting than mars actually is. W/ out the destruction Red Faction would probably be just another above average shooter w/ a few cool weapons, but adding a completely destructible environment really does change how much fun this game is.

If you've ever played a game, and said "oh I would of broke through that in real life" than this is a game you need to check out. It feels so good to actually have some whacked out plan that the game could of never been designed for, and then see the whole thing go horribly wrong. One of my plans was to rig a ton of charges on my vehicle, and then take out an EDF building. One of the EDF managed to blow up one of the charges which instantly destroyed my vehicle, and killed me before I even got near my destination. One small thing I liked in this game was that regular people would pick up a gun, and start helping you fight the EDF, and by fight I mean they would slow them down while I ran away to recover my health.

Multiplayer is just plain awesome. Though you only get a jetpack in the game in multiplayer you get a ton of different backpacks, that can rhino you through a wall, knock your opponent into the air, or even make you invisible. All the building in multiplayer are destroyable also so the map is constantly changing. Overall it seems everybody I meet in multiplayer is just amazed at how unique each game is.

Overall Red Faction Guerrilla's story isn't going to make you cry, and you probably won't care one bit about the liberation of mars. Still the insane amount of destruction this game has makes it definitely worth playing. I can guarantee you've never seen a game that has destruction like this.
