The starting point for one of the best platforming franchises ever to grace gaming,yet it doesn't quite succeed.
The graphics are quite beautiful.Lush or Industrial type levels are done with a great amount of detail.Level design is great,character models look wacky and fun,and are done right.The whole world is really brought to life with the graphics being as good as they are.Truly amazing for the PS2 in 2002.Great aspect for the game.
The sound is near perfection.The voice acting is just really good,the script is written with a lot of humor,and will generally make you laugh.Your guns sound outrageous,and extremely sci-fi.The entire presentation is done with exceeding detail.
The game play,the best part.Ratchet & Clank is a platformer/action type of game.They're some platforming bits thrown which are pretty fun to play,but the action type of game play is really where its at.The action aspect will have buying a variety of weapons,upgrading them,and generally wreaking havoc.The game is really fun to play,and that isn't opinion,its fact.
What sucks?The game feels pretty dated compared to its sequels to be honest,that is my only problem,I really dig the rest.
Final Verdict:Its a great starting point for the franchise,and excellent platformer in its own right.Ratchet & Clanks truly is great,a must get for all platformer fans.
