Quake 2 is a fun video game. The reason for Half-Life to exist. The Sequel to Quake which started out as WOR and became its own thing.
STORY:You are Bitterman and no pun intended this planet will make you one Bitterman. You go on a soulless planet called Strogg run by a race species of alien Cyborgs hellbent on making humans just like them. There is not much story in the beginning. The game is just as souless and rushed to the point in the start but you get the idea. You later see the lack there of ethics of the Stroggos as they make humans food and recyclable parts and see what kind of dastardly monsters they can make them into. You'll feel like you're in a Bruce Willis though from start to finish trying to destroy the Macron.
GAMEPLAY- The gameplay in Quake 2 is fantastic. You have goals and objectives. Secondary objectives and Primary. There are several different weapons like BFGs, Lazer pistols, shotguns, mega shotguns, Rail guns, and bombs.
You get power ups to! It's so cool. QUAD DAMAGE!!
With all this you go up against some sinister enemies such as the Macrons, Berzerkers, Ground troops, and more. They all have varied attacks but are none the smart. This game feels too easy on normal. But they will have a parting shot as they die and shoot you.
However the level designs are pretty good to. There will be many obstacles such as molten metal pits, lava pits, water , poison, falls, spikes and more.
Plenty of secrets to.
I don't know how the multiplayer is but the SP is great.
Overall Quake 2 is a fun game.
GRAPHICS
At some point in history this game looked good and was top of the line.

Now those days are gone. Quake 2 has aged like milk here. But what you might like is the lighting effects and atmosphere. You get the idea that this a dark and desolate place with no love or hope. With in that everything in the environment looks blocky and very blurry and quite the same.
If there was one good thing about Quake 2's graphics is that all the enemies are very imaginative. Every cyborg is just an abomination. There are Stroggos that are literally just dog bodied humans that lick you draining your health. They are completely souless creations that I hate and feel sorry for at the same time. Women who have robot legs and metal grafted to their breasts. Airtubes attached to their bodies. Blast them and they suffocate and die. You get the idea? This place sucks!
If you have an RTX card by now you can make this game look more realistic that Crysis. Trust me.

Quake 2 is a fine game. I'm certain you will really get into it.
