What could have been something special is wasted with poor execution.

Does the Playstation 2 have a single good FPS? Well thanks to the very good, but underappreciated, Killzone, it finally does. However that is not to say that Project: Snowblind doesn't contain an unplayable game, just a less functional one. The graphics in the game are fair, but the light bloom and soft glow over every little object in the environment does get a little tiring to say the least. Still, the weapon effects look pretty good and the environments are still alright, though the character models are extremely blocky. The sound department is ok, but the main area, the weapon sounds, lacks overall polish. While the weapons have so much punch to them, the subtle tones emitting from them does little to give the player that feeling. Even the shotgun and sniper rifle sound muffled! The soundtrack is ok though, and the voice overs ain't too shabby. But on the gameplay side is where the game shows some polish issues. Paying little attention to hit detection, I could hit online foes in the head with a sniper rifle and they wouldn't die. That is extremely stupid, and completely detracts from the experience. The same is true for all of the weapons, some are grossly overpowered, like the rockets and mine layer, while others pack nothing at all, such as the HERF gun and the Carbine. The enemies in single player are all fairly stupid and will hop out of their hiding to be shot in the head. And this is even worse considering you will eventually gather an arsenal so powerful it can take on a friggin' army. And the foes are even more devious online, as many people who have little skill with certain weapons can instantly vanquish any in their path. Also, lag was a serious problem in certain rooms I visited. The online play does offer a host of modes, but none are really fun unless you are using fair weaponry. The bio-augmentations you get don't help either online or off, as enemies still detect you with invisibility and can still annihilate you with the overshield on. So it boils down to if you didn't like Killzone and want a faster paced shooter. If that is you, then this is most likely your game, it just wasn't mine.
