@June-GS: The idea of Baphomet himself isn't copyrighted, of course. But specific works of art, like the unique statue that the Satanic Church created (and the show then used) would still be copyrighted.

If da Vinci were alive today, and he painted The Last Supper in 2018, you wouldn't have the right to copy the image and use it in your own movie. Same principle.

@Thanatos2k: If the NES emulator is what you want to complain about, then that's fair. In the future, I suggest coming up with the thing you want to complain about, and then saying that in your first post.

@Thanatos2k: You literally can't use them if you don't have the online subscription. The controllers only work with NES games, which are only available if you subscribe. At face value, it's a weird decision, but it makes sense.

@PSYCHOV3N0M: Of course parental controls should be standard. But this is above and beyond that. Nintendo is offering a free optional parental control app for your phone. I don't see why it's so wrong for Nintendo to advertise something that only they do, a free optional way of controlling a baseline function of the console.

You're complaining about nothing.

@Jamex1987 @atopp399 More accurately, the kind of people who buy Android products aren't the kind of people who will happily pay extra for a brand.

@red_city @zyxomma100 Yeah, I agree completely. I tried to squish that thought into my last paragraph, but I didn't do a good job...

The first two paragraphs were intended to be a full rebuttal to the "non-art" commenters, and the last paragraph was meant to roll in a more truthful interpretation of Iwata's comments.

They're making games, which by definition are art. I don't understand how it isn't so. Art is a widely encompassing term that pretty much covers all aesthetic and emotional responses or intentions from either the viewpoint of the creator or the observer. I could stack two blocks on top of each other, and if you can manage to see some meaning in it, then it's art to you.

Granted, it's worthless art, and you might be the only person in the world to see it in such a light (including even the creator), but by definition, it's art. If you have to ask the question, "Is it art?" then by definition it already is. I realize this makes "art" a very watered down term, but to do anything else creates some logical fallacies when trying to determine the smallest difference between art and non-art.

Now, I can see Iwata saying that making a pleasing or functional game is their main goal... but even that in itself is art. Making a decision whether to make an enemy blue or red is an artistic decision designed to evoke certain emotional player responses. Making sure that the player can always see the objective of a level is a series of artistic decisions. And so on.

@daviz88 If that's "getting worked up," sorry but you've got to be one of the most boring people in the world.

Although yes, I am a fan of one of the most important ideas in the history of civilization. (Copyright, in case you're more dense than I thought.) Without it, games like The Last of Us wouldn't even exist.

If that's not something you think is important, I hope you're just the naive little kid you write like. If you're over the age of 18 and still that ignorant... I am genuinely afraid of the backward dystopia that faces us should someone like you ever reach a position of power.

@daviz88 This guy's map wasn't in the trailer so there was no issue then... or are you really that stupid?

@AdrianWrz Please, please, learn what copyright law covers, what it doesn't cover, how it works, and what it does. The idea of copyright is one of the most important ideas in the world, as it protects one of the basic natural rights of all humans, that of property. I'd argue that most copyright laws last too long... but this is a clear cut violation, however small.

One of the best things you could do right now would be to do some research into the idea of copyright, as without it, modern culture would not exist, and it looks like you have no idea how it works.
