Old DAOC and ULtima Onlne player the game just doesn't deliver. It's obvious they spent alot of time on the Graphics but the pacing and

overall feel of the game just doens't live up to the Hype. It's such a friendly game nobody talks to each other the only people who talk are the ones crafting.

Why craft for a game that doesn't even deliver?

Rift is way better then this game =)

I am not a fan-boy, however I have to say this game is a great game and been playing pre-launch and dont see myself nor my wife getting bored. Now before everyone starts calling me a fan-boy let me explain why this one will meet my entertainment needs for quite sometime. 1. No subscription fees 2. The combat system is nothing new with the exception of the doging mechanic that allowes you to dodge incoming attacks by simply double tapping the forward, left, and right keys as well as V for dodging backward. 3. The random world encounters that trigger instant side missions while moving from one quest to another has a totally unique feel. One minute you could be going to or working on a mission in an area and out of the blue you get an area quest that, at your own discretion, prompts you to escort this guy, or kill that boss, or protect these buildings, or defend that camp etc.. In addition, the mission events are area based and apply to all toons in that area so you are rarely doing the quests alone, each item collected, or monster killed (mission objective) increases a mission bar until its full allowing you to get the reward. There is a lot to talk about and some I have not mentioned here, however it should also be mentioned that many quest are in the form of using a disguise, or temporary weapon to trap or tame monsters. Kudos to the design team on this aspect of the game. 4. The skill system is another interesting part of the game, every weapon usable by your class allows you to acquire unique skill sets for that weapon as you use it. For example, if I am using a long sword in combat for a short period of time, I learn 4 new skills associated with a long sword, but if I switch to a mace or axe, then 5 different skills will be available for those specific weapons. Very cool. 5. Another cool thing that promotes map explorations is Vistas and Points of interest located throughout the maps that you can earn rewards for locating them all in a specific map. Each map has Vistas, Points of Interest, Quest Givers, Skill Points, and Waypoints. Not only can you complete get bonuses for locating all the items on a map, but you can earn skill points by completing the quests located at the Skill Point areas. 6. The crafting system is very in-depth allowing you to craft unique items by placing crafted parts combined with world items into a research windows. In addition all your crafting material can be sent to a Collectables Inventory that contains spots for every item that can be used for crafting making it easier to know what is used for crafting as well as not clogging up your inventory or bank slots with a bunch of mundane crap you have no idea what it is used for. An added bonus is you can send these items to your Collectable Inventory on-the-fly and dont need to run to a bank to do it. Many of this stuff only touch the surface of this game, but it is very fun and after being a wow head for about 8 years this game is a nice change from wow, and I might even say it is better then wow is.

My wife uses a Intel Quad Core with a 550 Ti and 6 MG of Ram (1600) and the game looks great on her system. I can tell you the video card is the best thing in that computer, and that GPU is under a hundered on Amazon. I think Arenanet has done a fine job with this title. But that is the problem with laptops, lack of upgrading. Have him put together a desktop for gaming or just by a new laptop for about $800
