Lair is patched up to work with the analog sticks, and it is not a terrible game. It has some cool missions and what not. Have not played Ninja Gaiden so no clue on that one.
Get combined ops. It has both Arma2 and Operation Arrowhead. Get comfortable with the controls, then hop into a multiplayer game. For mods check out armaholic.com
Like an above poster said, try the demo first, to make sure your PC can handle it, and that YOU can handle it. The best part about the game is the multiplayer when you get with a solid group of people. Tons of mods, and custom maps and what not out there. The single player campaigns are not that great, but give you some of the basics as ar as how to control the different aspects of the game. But for the price on Steam is is totally worth the purchase.
Get em both. Both are pretty awesome once you get to grips with the controls. Keep in mind that neither are MW2 style games. These are more mil sims. The multiplayer is the best part about the Arma series. Once you get a feel for the sim, find a good clan/group to play with and you will be blown away.
Stalker is an awesome series. Arma 2 is a hardcore mil sim. I would say try the demo for Arma2, it is not for everyone, but it is more about playing multiplayer than single player. Stalker is the opposite.
