Affording a PS3 comes down to if you not only have a job but if you have responsibility. I would love to get myself a PS3, if i could afford it. I like millions of average american would do anything for a PS3 but not paying your rent or car payments or buying food for your kids is a little more important. So if you have a job and no responsibility then by all means all power to you get a PS3 but dont forget there are grown up americans who have to work to survive and not all of us can afford a $600 system, now $ 250 is a different story.
