Minecraft Amethyst Shards can be found by mining clusters of amethyst found with geodes. These shards can be used as fancy decorations or crafting materials to make Spyglasses and Tinted Glass. If you're going to search for these purple crystal shards, you'll need to understand the specifics of where you can find Amethyst Geodes and how to maximize your shards gains. Here are the details on how to find and mine Amethyst Shards within Minecraft.
Where can I get Amethyst Geodes for Minecraft?
It's the easiest option to go underground and begin mining in Minecraft to find an Amethyst Geode. You don't have to dig deep: Amethyst geodes can spawn between Y-level 64 and Y-level 30. Geodes aren't that difficult to recognize either, as they're massive and often cracked, which means that you might see the faint glowing light from a distance.
Keep an eye out for smooth basalt during mining. This is the dark outer layer of the Amethyst Geode. It is possible to break through this layer to find the calcite. Then, you can continue to discover amethyst. Inside there, you'll find Blocks of Amethyst, Budding Amethyst, Amethyst Buds and Amethyst Clusters. Let's look at which
How to obtain Amethyst Shards in Minecraft from Amethyst Clusters
Minecraft Netherite is very valuable but a lot harder to find Amesthyst Shards!
Amethyst Shards can be retrieved from growing amethyst clusters. These clusters can be found in Amethyst Geodes. If you mine amethyst clusters you'll receive Minecraft Amethyst shards in return, and they can be used to make specific items.
It is important to only mine fully grown ones. The smaller Amethyst Buds in Minecraft will not drop any Amethyst Shards. An Amethyst Bud goes through three phases before it is transformed into an Amethyst Cluster. Look at the image above to see how you can distinguish them!
Fully formed Amethyst Clusters drop two Minecraft Amethyst Shards when broken with any other tool and four when extracted with a pickaxe. The number of Amethyst Shards that drop can further increase by using the Fortune enchantment. Use the Silk Touch enchantment to pick up the cluster.
Minecraft Amethyst Clusters and Buds are a result of Budding Amethyst blocks. You can identify them by the cross-shape on their sides. Budding Amethyst is not possible to mine, however you are able to return to find new-spawned Amethyst Buds. The other amethyst block is called a "Block of Amethyst" and can only be mined with a pickaxe. The block is only used for decorative purposes and can't be used to grow Amethyst Buds. If you want to make use of Amethyst Shards to make more Minecraft Blocks of Amethyst, you can use them to make them.
What can you make with Minecraft Amethyst Shards
Amethyst Shards are a new beautiful, elegant building material. You can also use them to make the following items:
Spyglass: One Amethyst Shard placed on top of two Copper Ingots makes Spyglass. Spyglass. Spyglasses can be used to zoom in to view far objects. Tinted Glass: Two blocks of Tinted Glass will be made from one block of glass and an Amethyst Shard on each side. Tinted Glass is a building material that blocks out all light (but you can still see through it). It doesn't suffocate mobs however it is able to be reused in the event of a break.
Block of Amethyst It is for decorative purposes only, as we've mentioned before. You can create a Block of Amethyst using four Amethyst Shards.
Time to dig up some Amethyst Shards and build that luxurious amethyst mansion!
