@bm_zero I can appreciate all the points you highlighted, and as I said in another post, I do appreciate the games as art idea. A good example of this is Braid - Braid is perfect in almost very way in my opinion. However, with all Journey's beauty in terms of aesthetics and sound design, the emotional connections it evokes etc. it still didn't feel like a game to me. They made this beautiful world, and didn't let me inhabit it.. I can compare Journey with Dear Esther, same type of game imo
In my opinion games are supposed to be played and I felt I didn't play Journey, I just moved through it...
@Timaetaj I am definately not a CoD or Halo player, the closest I've come to a FPS is Fallout 3 and Portal. So, keeping that in mind, could you please be so kind as to point out why Journey is innovative (besides the stunning visuals)? Braid was innovative...Journey, not so much in my opinion
Journey? I am a big fan of games as art, Braid is in my top 10 games ever made. Loved Limbo and Heavy Rain aswell. But come on, how can journey be classified as a better "game" than Dishonored or Walking Dead. Journey was beautiful and did create some emotional response, but where is the "game" in Journey? A game is meant to be played. In Journey I didn't play at all, I walked up the big ass mountain...
Top games of this year in my opinion are Walking Dead, Dishonored and Darksiders 2.
