Lip area. Or nose. Those hurt like a peanut that didn't digest in your stomach, and pokes you on the way out.

Fricking P.O.D. They were the bomb back in the day. 7 years ago, that is.

[QUOTE="Crypto138"]But how can he be perfect if he broke his own rule? (sensible answer please; so help me God (lol) if I hear anything about how we can't understand God one more time in my life, I'll explode)Crypto138

He set that rule for humans. God is above humans. He's straight God. Who are we to judge God as to wether or not he broke his own rule? All the killing God did was to the unrighteous and wicked, or just disobedient. Before Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice, God seemed to have quite the short temper. Thankfully we have a Mediator between our sins and God now.

So we can judge God, eh? Do I even have to point out that you just said he had a short temper? And what about all the people who say that God is good and perfect? That's judging him, no two ways about it.

And did God kill all the wicked and evil people? No, I'd say he didn't. Why was he so arbitrary about who gets punished? Why some people and not others? How come, before, he used to do so many miracles that people could see happen before their eyes, but now he doesn't?

And the second coming of Jesus. What's he waiting for? What's gonna be happening at that time that isn't happening now that's gonna warrent Jesus coming back? And if God is eternal, time shouldn't be such a huge factor. What's the deal?

And back to Salt Pillar Woman; I'd say that's a bit extreme, and if you have any rational thought, you would agree. People can go around killing and raping, and nothing happens, but a woman looks over her shoulder, and dies.

Which leads me to my next point. One part in the Bible, my memories a bit foggy as to the specifics, but basically, there was something about a dude coming onto another dude, and so the guy offered his daughter up, and she was gang raped (and believe she also died from said gang rape). This just isn't the kind of thing a loving God would ever think to condone, yet lo and behold, he does. (the facts really can't be denied; it can only go one of two ways; either you accept what the Bible says, and accept God's contradictions, which means you have to accept that he's imperfect, unless of course you choose to ignore certain parts; or, that God isn't so loving [condoning gang rape would imply as much], which also leads to God not being perfect)

I find the best way that someone could lose faith is by actually reading the whole Bible from cover to cover.

Good gosh you are good at picking out things. But I wasn't judging God there. God is shown to have a short temper, so that isn't judging him, that's making an observation over what he did in the Old Testament. Someone screwed up, he got pissed. I'm super tired, and will let someone else respond to the rest of that post. I'm about to pass out :P

Hope someone else can answer your questions for ya though. You sure have some good ones:)

Quite a sticky situation you got yourself into. Dude, just come clean. Seriously, if she loves you for real for real, she'll forgive you... eventually. She may not right away, but if she legitimatly loves you, she'll forgive you. Don't force yourself to live with that guilt. That's hell.

If he is above us, surely he is above petty things like emotion. Therefore, why did he do what he did? Perhaps, he is not above human beings, as his hands were tied down by petty feelings just as ours are. Or, perhaps religion has told us how to view god, and we cannot imagine it being any other way. Isn't it sad when human beings cn directly control other human beings by telling them that "God said do this and this and that, and I wrote it in a book for everyone to read and obey. Trust me on it."

You know, you're last quote is something that I myself have battled with. An interesting thought for sure. But I don't think God would allow something like that to happen. I mean, all the stuff in the Bible seems to pretty well line up with itself, if you don't take it all out of context. There's "contradictions," sure, but a lot of those are pretty petty and miniscule compared to the main message that pretty much stays constant and true throughout the whole book.

To sum up what every religion person says to every non-religious person: If you don't agree with our views of the Bible, you don't understand. Consult someone who agrees with us, and let them beat our perception of the Bible into your head.Crypto138

Oh man, oh man. That's what's so great about God. He's a mystery! No one will ever understand fully the nature of God. That's what makes things so rad. Why would you want to worship a God that is predictable and easy to understand? It's sweet to learn new things about His nature, and to hear differing ideas. I'm sorry if it seems like I, or others, are telling you that you wouldn't understand. It's just that, well, no one will understand.
