The "3DS" does have backward compatibility so it can play DS games. I also heard that The Pokemon Company was one of the developers working on the "3DS." Pokemon Black and White have probably been in development for a few years now. I don't think that they would bother to try to rush out a version for the 3DS. It wouldn't really take advantage of the new system and would just be a waste of time and money. If Nintendo has a good launch lineup and the features on the 3DS are good enough Pokemon Black and White wont effect sales. I also think that it is possible that Pokemon "Grey", that's what people are calling the remake of Black and White, could be a 3DS game.
