My 60GB PS3 had the same problem and was also out of warranty so I was expecting a repair charge but they told me it was a manufacturing fault and would be fixed free of charge. it took 7 weeks to get it back and in the end they sent me a different PS3. i was impressed with the service overall as they supplied free boxes for shipping unlike when my Xbox RROD'd and I had to use my own box (This is in Australia btw)

Mine was the original Tomb Raider on PS1, when you drop down in to the big canyon and the Tyrannosaurus Rex runs towards you.. that was the first time my Jaw dropped during a computer game.

would you believe it.. the day before MGS4..and a month out of warranty..

anyway, the reason I post is to ask if anyone has had this issue and managed to fix it without sending back to Sony? I've read the forums and there seems to be an issue with the Laser failing on some PS3's. the problem I have is the disk loads ok, but I constantly get the little symbol in the top left of the screen and I can't play any CD's, DVD's or Blu-rays..

any tips greatly appreciated, hope you all enjoy MGS4..:(

My 2 year old machine died with the RROD when I was half way through the single player mission on Halo3. After getting a replacment machine back I am now unable to resume the game. On having a search through google it appears this is a known issue. Some people have said all you have to do is to load an old game to get around it. I tried to start a new campaign but are unable to do that so cannot load a Save.. I'm having no luck with getting this started. Apart from deleting all the Halo3 saves and starting from Scratch, has anyone else experienced this issue and can you please advise on how you worked around this issue.

Any help greatly appreciated.
