Thanks for the info so far!

Personally, i use this 27", 2560x1440, LED, IPS. Only $400, though it was $350 when i got mine. Prices have been inflating a lot on it lately...but man it's really good looking. Remember to get an adapter, and the speakers don't actually work either. kris9031998

Ive read that IPS screens do not make good gaming monitors, but they do look great. Have you noticed any ghosting or response time issues?

I have had more monitors than you could shake a stick at. I went through about 5 of them last summer trying to decide on what I liked best.

My personal opinion is to stick with Samsung.

I had a glossy HP, a 120hz Asus, Auria IPS and a few others and in the end I found that the 27" Samsung I had been using had a better picture than all of them. I have not tried the Dell "supper sharp" or whatever they are called so I can't compare that one but I believe they are a bit on the expensive side. Also I noticed the Dell's paneling was kind of cheap plastic from what I remember....but I hear they have a nice picture.

So yeah....you can get a 1080p Samsung from Microcenter for about $399.99.

My second would have been the HP I think but I just could not get the colors where I wanted.

Keep in mind no matter what you get you're going to have to go into the settings and adjust the picture a little to get it to look like you want.

Oh I also liked LG...

This is just my opinion...good luck

Maybe I do need to look into my settings. I messed around with them when I first got the monitor, but I havent really looked at them since. I can vouch for the Dell Ultrasharps both on picture quality and price. Im hoping to find something comparable on the quality, but at a better price point.

How can I tell the picture quality of these? I know the 2ms response time is needed, but Other than that Im not sure what Im looking for.

I'm debating on picking up a new monitor for my rig. I currently have a 4-5 year old 23" samsung syncmaster. Its nice, but the picture just doesnt pop like others I've seen. It looks good, but then I see a true gaming monitor and mine looks like crap :( Or god forbid I go into an apple store and see one of their $1000 27" displays.

I'd like to get a very good quality monitor. A refurb is fine, and I'd like to go at least 23", but would prefer 25" or more. My price range tops out around $500.

I did some searching, and found these, and the Dell and HP look great, but they are a bit out of my price range. I've also read that the same HP actually isnt a good gaming display, so I dont know what to think.

I also found this list

Anyone have any suggestions?

I only play FPS games on PC, I too prefer the old mouse and keyboard, I just wanted to controller to act as a flight stick for the vehicals in battlefield. I use the keyboard and mouse for everything else.

I was only testing COD to see if it would work on another game.

tried google, in fact, every post that came up I'd already viewed. None of them have helped me. Guess you have something in common with them.

using windows 7 64 bit. Ive downloaded and installed the driver from M$, my system sees it in the devices and printers. i can go into it and there are two devices listed when i open up the settings. Virtual Hid device, and controller(XBOX 360 for Windows). I can go in and calibrate the 360 option, but the virtual optiuon is unresponsive. When i open up battlefield 1942, or Call of duty MW, the controller isnt seen, and no buttons can be programmed.

anyone know how i can get this to work?

is this the first time youve tried to use the cable box's hdmi out? Im thinking the cable company blocked theuse of it because they charge a fee for HD service. Just a guess though.

[QUOTE="snowren24"]

[QUOTE="bizzy420"] damn i wanted to get those take 5 speakers. they were on sale awhile back for about $150, but i cant find anymore deals in the same price range.WiiRocks66

I got them for $200 on newegg and they are well worth it, $150 would be a steal.

Wow, expensive. But it'll be worth it once I'm gaming on the 50" Panasonic Plasma I'm eyeing and having some amazing sound.

I'm on a 50" panny plasma as well. :)

$200 shipped to your front door for 4 quality satellites and a center channel is still a pretty good price. They may have come down a bit since i bought them, but that was the cheapest I could find at the time. I had a Sony HtiB prior that I paid a $350 for, and this system blows it away. The Sony system wasn't worth hooking up, I would argue the TV speakers sounded better.
