If ever, I think now is the time to upgrade to win7 if you have a newer rig and still use XP. All those added features, DX11, shadder 5.0, more reliable and faster than vista, etc...
The 8800GTS 512mb is still the king. It beats the 9800GTX and it costs $180, its also better than the 9800GTX+ even in some games. So its the best price per performance card still. The problem is that its not produced anymore so it can be a bit hard to find it.
Hah why would blizzard produce a new game when they have 3 very big and successful games? Not to mention me as a D3 and SC2 fan as well as tents of millions other fans all wanted SC2 and now D3. I don't see why would they be leaving the 3 franchises that made blizzard what they are. Starcraft has sold 10 million copies worldwide. Diablo series has sold more than 17 million copies worldwide. Warcraft 3 have sold more than 7 million copies worldwide. WOW has 10 million subscribers 5 years after the release, doesn't that tell anything!?
Obviosly the 256PS3 vs 512xbox ram makes xbox has an advantage, though it may also be that its just harder to code for the PS3, while essencially windows and xbox coding is similar if not almost the same!
You discovered hot water, wow..... It was about time for the graphics to get updated but its nothing special or unseen, infact its probably just average!
What about the 2900XT with 1GB of GDDR4 ? Can you get that card or at least buy it and make a decent review! The rest is pretty much okay but those price-per-frame is just silly. Doesent give a real picture!
This is non-sense! Both Nvidia's 8 series and ATI's HD 2xxx series are pure crap with the exception of 8800 and 2900! Why should i buy the 8600GTS or 2600XT for 150euros when i can have the 7900GS for less than that and it still out performs these cards, not to mention i can overclock the 7900GS core at least 50MHz and memory at least 100MHz
Well in order to have better performance under DX10 3 things must be met: 1.unified architecture video card 2.DX10 drivers 3. DX10 games if only one of these things misses you won't get better results, infact as the benchmarks show you will get lower scores! So until we see games fully built around the DX10 there wont be any performance gain. But lets say if Crysis was already released and you are playing it with 8800GTX and DX10 drivers then you will have around 5-10% performance boost under Vista/DX10 depending on the optimizations the developers make!
