[QUOTE="slash9107"]...For me there is no question that this is a developer's problem. In my opinion many of the glitches that some gamers take advantage of are purposely created and implemented by the developers. Why? I have no idea...Avenger1324

Utter rubbish

Glitches that people take advantage of are mistakes in the code. No programmer "intends" for players to glitch under the map and kill people from complete safety. No programmer "intends" for a player to god mode themselves with infinite ammo, or the ability to see through walls, increase their speed, or lag glitch

The reason glitches exist in multiplayer games is because even though the game has gone through testing before release, they cannot possibly cover the game as thoroughly as millions of people can month after month. Take a game like COD4 - it would have had somewhere in the region of 60 people testing the multiplayer over several months. As soon as it gets released literally millions of people start playing and finding glitches.

So who is to blame for glitching? The players 100%

It's great when the developers get round to patching the problem, but until that happens it is entirely the fault of the player for abusing the glitch.

And to those people that like to defend their cheating by saying "it's part of the game, they intended it" utter rubbish - you're cheating plain and simple

First off let me make myself perfectly clear. I am 36yrs. old (not 12-18) and I have never cheated in any video game. I don't think its fun or funny. In fact when someone would show me how to perform a cheat in a single player game, it would upset me because there is nothing enjoyable about cheating for me. It is an admission of lack of ability. I never claim to be the best (or even close to the best) in any game I have played but everything I have earned is 100% legit. The fun is in the challenge, and the win is just icing on the cake.

Secondly, I do not completely believe that the gamer is without fault. There are millions of people who play and never glitch knowing that they exist. I understand that, but to say that developers do not create these glitches is just false. Some of the most famous glitches created in Super Mario Bros.were intentional glitches to see how many people would discover them. This was admitted by the developer. This definetly still occurs. And if it was such a concern for developers, why does it take so long to correct (if they correct it at all)? Some may be accidental, I will conceded that but some are definetly created.

The players are primarily to blame. I think that a portion of gamers in all online gamers are spoiled children who have no sense of fair play whatsoever. I suppose if a glitch goes unpatched for a long period of time, then some of the responsibility falls on the developers. They're allowing dishonest behavior to continue when they have the power to stop it.

Palantas

Although I agree, those same kids have just as much right to play in a game as we older folk ;). My problem is that if there is no glitch or problem to take advantage of, then they can't ever cheat. You are absolutely correct when you say "... they have the power to stop it." and I believe that they could stop it by never creating it in the first place.

I recently had a discussion with some of my buddies on whose to blame for glitching, developers or the people who glitch?

What we do agree upon is that it sucks and ruins many of the games we love to play like Halo or Gears. Although I can't deny someone from the right to glitch, if that's how they want to play its their right, but why should those who want to play fairly, need to deal with this problem? Glitchers should play other glitchers and those who play fair.....well you get it and that's a conversation for another day.

For me there is no question that this is a developer's problem. In my opinion many of the glitches that some gamers take advantage of are purposely created and implemented by the developers. Why? I have no idea. Some of these glitches are just too specific and affect the game in such a way that I can't accpet that they are merely accidents or oversights.

I believe that if developers really wanted to, they could put an end to this problem by not getting cute with games and just sticking to what matters, gameplay, storyline, controls, etc. Instead they like to insert easter eggs and all other kinds of garbage just to see if people can find them. This ultimately destroys the fun of the game because it allows those of lesser abilty to take advantage of weaknesses in the game and use them to cheat. Although I do believe that some problems are accidental, are think that many more are done on purpose.

What do you guys/gals think?

Is there any way to sell downloaded arcade games or dlc back to marketplace for points? I don't expect that there would be, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I've tried askinf this on several other sites and no one can even tell me wether its possible or not.

Is there any way to change stats in a private league? (game win/loss, goals scored, etc.)

I was playing the GM of my league and the power went out at his house. Because he was disconnected, the game gave hime a loss. We tried again and the power went out again so now he suffered 2 losses for 2 games that were barely started (about 3-5 minuted into period 1 and no one had even scored....both games!!!) Not only did it give him 2 losses but it said I won 3-0 both games. This screws up all the stats for everyone in the league because they are not accurate. Is there a way to fix this?

I realize why the game does this but is there a way to change the stats when it actually happens unintentionally? It would seem to make sense to allow a GM to make these changes, especially in a private league.

slash9107 - Played hoops in high school and I never cared about jersey numbers. When everyone got what they wanted there was nothing left for me so my coach put a piece of tape across my jersey like a slash. It became my nickname and to this day some people only know me as slash. 91 is the year I graduated high school and 07 is when I got my Xbox.
