there is a point that when they ask third parties they will ask for it to be same as the ps4 and xbox one e.g. nintendo losing money on each console sold for the first two to three years of release to build up a user base that then they can attempt to make back on royalties later (though has the xbox ever in total over whole of xbox, 360 broke even in terms of money?) This ps2 was big profit maker for sony but the PS3 i would guess is barley at break even given how much they spent on it and then took loses for next three years on each sold.
Though I maybe wrong with this generation maybe after they are striped down and costed they maybe they will be at cost this time given lack of special architecture of the CPUs and GPUs that both xbox 360 and especially the PS3 had.
Both sony and microsoft could afford to sell the console at a lost at the start of the generation given there deep pockets (maybe this not the case for sony in 2013 but it was back in 2006)
I don't think nintendo is in a position to do this (especially given how fiscally conservative the company is) this is their only business and they seem to want to break even or make a profit on each unit sold from the start. In some ways the 3rd parties want the same hardware in all three consoles to reduce the need for custom work in such saving money for them and costing nintendo money to match the specs of the others.
I would love nintendo to match the specs of the PS4 and xbox one but i feel that after the game cube"failure" and the success of the Wii they felt that they did not need to match the specs and in fact they could afford to and keep profitability.
the point is that given the next gen consoles are much more PC hardware based than in the past (no ps3 custom built cell processors etc) then if there is a PC port then it would be leaving money on the table for them not to release the PS4 and Xbox (what ever it's called) in holidays 2014 my bet is on a special edition will all the dlc and new city.
the issue i always have with these reports is if you made a report about controversial film you would watch the film and maybe ask the director for his or her view about the subject. Maybe if she played these games before making the report she could have better idea.
