To prove my point that its very easy to get high combos in the green tunnel: I cant capture video on my TV so I could only take a cell phone pic, its a cheap stage to do it but I got up to 420 :

He got it very easily there because the bug things on that part of the stage just keep spawning and they're very easy to kill.saiyansnake

I'm quite sure he used the Kusari-gama. If you don't upgrade it, that weapon is perfect to get high combos.
