I swear I was addicted to COD 4 like crack until I reached the 10th prestige. I know it was an addiction because some days I wanted to do other things, but I couldn't- I had to play COD 4 everyday for at least 8hrs + until I reached my goal. Was I driven to be one of the best? Maybe, but I know one thing is for sure online competitve gaming is the reason people are becoming overly addicted to videogames- not to mention achievements for the 360 and upgrades for the World of Warcraft. After a while you notice that you've wasted a lot of time just playing a game. People can say 'well I played 45 days of COD 4 and I had fun doing it' - that's all fine and good but you're probably missing out on other fun and more memorable times than just you and your games
