Please, trust me. It works a 100% for me. I play over HD-TV, 720p, Hdmi.

I was totally pissed about the framerate in the Skate demo and even in the full version.

Yesterday, i tried some of these settings (in my case, i think it's the BD/DVD Upscaler setting) and now the demo and the game both run smooth as butter. I'm not lying but there's not a single framerate drop since i changed it.

I skated for about 15 years and with the framerate issues i had (hdmi,720p) i never could do tricks a 100% accurate in this game which pissed me off - well, now i can.

The whole picture is clearer than before and even the XMB navigation is more responsive.

If it doesn't work for you and you never had any problems, that's fine. But i was on my way to buy a 360 just for Skate and now the game runs exactly the same. lazy sh1tty EA devs!

As i said, it only works with Hdmi, 720p. My TV is capable of 720p and 1080i.

P.S. I also tested it with other games and all my games run smoother now. Heavenly Sword has no tearing at all and the combat feels more fluid now. I know it sounds funny, but i just can say what i see.

Thanks to the man who posted the original story because for me and at least for him, these settiings work fine.

The following settings work for ALL games for the PS3 - they make the framerate smooth and the games look better. example SKATE, you can perform tricks 100% accurate after this.

So please, try the following steps if you play over HDMI:

XMB Settings Menu:
Game settings: PS/PS2 Upscaler=OFF, PS/PS2 Smoothing=OFF

BD/DVD Settings: Cinema Conversion=Video, DVD Upscaler=OFF, BD 1080p 24 Hz output=OFF, BD/DVD Audio output format= BITSTREAM

Music settings: Crossfade playback=OFF, Audio cd output=44.1/88/192KHz, Bitmapping=OFF

System settings: Notification messages=DO NOT DISPLAY

Display settings: Screensaver=OFF

Sound setting: Audio output=OPTICAL Digital out 5.1/dts or analog

Security settings: ALL OFF

Network settings: Media server connection=DISABLE (probably 1 of the main cause the problem, since it scans continu with WiFi)

Skate on PS3 runs smooth if you use Component cables instead of Hdmi .. for me it works fine. now i have better graphics and the same framerate like the 360 version .. yeah!

Uncharted looks like a must buy for me.

there are a few things they could do to optimize the experience but altogether i have to say it's a supernice system. i own a 360, too but it's a lot easier to use the ps3. the navigation is simply amazing. i takes 10 seconds to change the user and be back in the game. everything is well done. don't know if it's a special thing with my hd-tv but all the games look much better on my ps3. sometimes i have eyestrain when playing 360 games ... don't know why but i think it's a contrast thing and sometimes the games on my 360 look sooooo dark.

I totally love my ps3 .... and of course my 360, too ;-)
