"That's a common mistake; gamers buy games, so naturally they feel entitled to them. But games are, and have always been, the property of the people who made them." If I buy a Volvo, does Volvo still own the car? No. I bought it, therefore it belongs to me. They maintain the rights to sell the car and design future iterations how they wish, but the car is mine. Video games are no different. I own the games I buy because I paid for them. I don't think that the way Hepler was treated is right, but this line of thinking is dangerous. It leaves ownership in the hands of merchants even after a purchase has been made. This line of thinking can only lead to a feudalistic society in which you are allowed to own only what those in power want you to own.
