Running a Asus P5N-D mobo, 800mhz RAM.

I want to get his processer to 3.0 gig.

The only setting I have changed are my FSB and RAM speed.

Steeping up slowly the best I can get is FSB to 1195 with RAM at 533, giving me 2.69 ghz

If I go to 1200FSB I get a exception error after POST

What should I do now to get my FSB faster? All voltages and memory timing are set to auto. I have tried doing 5-5-5-15 and it always gives me a exception error, the only success I have had is putting the memory at 533 and slowly stepping up the FSB. I really want to hit 3.0, any suggestions?

[QUOTE="CheeChee_Macko"]No, a single 8800GT still outperforms 2 7800GT's by over 30% according to Tom's Hardware. I just recently upgraded from a 7950GT to a 8800GS for only about $150 and the increase in performance is incredible for the price. You may want to check out that or possibly even the 9600GT.Deihmos

Yep it's better to save some electricity and get a single up to date card.

How big a step up would this card be?

Yes.SIapshot

Yes running SLI would be better than a more current single $200 or less card?

Upgraded from a Athlon 4000+ system to a Intel 6600 Quad Core system, got a Asus 750i Sli motherboard. I am running a eVGA overclocked Geforce 7800GT. I know the card is outdated, but I now have a SLI capable mother board and I can pick up the same card for about $100.

Not really looking to spend more than $200 to upgrade the graphics, I mainly play games based on the source engine and I was stuttering with a maxed out CPU playing HL2 Episode 2 at 1280x1024 so that is why I upgraded.

Now bang for the buck would I get a greater performance boost buying another 7800gt to run in SLI mode or is there a card out there for $200 or less that would give me greater performance than running the 2 7800's in SLI? Thanks in advance :)

Also, why I'm asking, I got the following upgrades for $700, what do you all think? Note that I'm not a extreme gamer, but use my PC for doing a lot of media severing and video editing

ummm..... It says I can run any Socket 939, including the 4200+ Dual Core which is a Socket 939, am I missing what you mean by you saying I can only run single cores?

Think going from a 4000+ to dual core 4200+ would make a big difference? At least a $87 difference? (Newegg)

From the Website

"Abstract: This board can use any Socket 939 Athlon64/FX processor and can be stuffed with up to 4GB of PC3200 DDR RAM."

What kind of processer fits Socket 939? Can I run a dual core of that type? What is the max I could run?

What would you reccommend in the way of processer? Does dual-core make a big difference in 32bit XP? Like I said, been out of the hardware scene for a while
