Tired of the excuses. A strong library of compelling first-party games is EVERYTHING. There is no better way to build respect and gain attention from gamers over time - especially when these are games you build yourselves instead of buying entire publishers that would have put these games out anyway, and on other platforms additionally.

And no company out there has more resources to do this than Microsoft.

Nothing sounds exciting imo.

Agreed. If this is just a streaming handheld, what can you do on it that you couldn't do on a smartphone or tablet using an app?

@nargg: Thanks. I may be a snob, but at least I'm not a nargg.

Not to sound like a snob, but I lost all interest when they mention screen is LCD. I've been gaming on an OLED tv for the last 5+ years, and it has ruined LCD screens for me. I would rather use the backbone controller with my iPhone.

This is a real bummer, it really does look like a solid piece of tech that can do VR some serious justice.

If there were a strong lineup of big budget PSVR2 exclusives that fully take advantage of this thing, I think the $550 cost would be easier for more people (with some cash to spare) to stomach. But there hasn't even really been announcements of such games. So it's kind of a tough sell, even for those that can afford it!

@hardwenzen: For $400 it wasn't a bad deal. If you upgraded to a 4k oled tv like I did, the PS4 pro was definitely worth it. It just sucks how many games that released before didn't get patches for it.

I think this is a good idea, especially if the PS6 isn't expected to come around until 2028. The PS5 while still very decent, is already being leapfrogged by PC performance. This will help close the gap a bit, and will definitely make a difference as games inevitably get more demanding over this generation.

This is a relief to hear. I thought they were mandating all first-party games to be cross-gen for a few years, that bothered me. I'm glad it's up to the dev.

@wolfpup7: It's true they can do it on the Series X, it's amazing hardware and I'm not saying that isn't the case.

What I'm saying is I don't think Microsoft should force their 15 or so studios to design their game around the hardware limitations of the Xbox One. Next-gen to me isn't just better graphics and framerates, I want to see things like more advanced physics, destructible environments, faster traversal environment, better AI, so on.

If devs did not have to design their game around limitations on last-gen hardware just so it will run, they could go crazy with this stuff. And I think we will see that on PS5 exclusives because they are using a powerful next-gen console as their baseline.

People will soon realize just how foolish this "consumer friendly" strategy is when PS5 exclusive games come around that feature exciting new gameplay features not possible on last gen hardware.
