The learning curve, with respect to familiarizing yourself with the battle controls and deck creation, is fairly straight-forward. However, you'll have to follow the Genroh FAQ step-by-step for the story mode (J-Galaxy) if you want to unlock all of the various koma/characters/etc.

Additionally, the game's presentation is pretty amazing, so becoming familiar with all of the options and whatnot will take some time. It's fun, though, and I enjoyed learning about the game as much as I did playing it. And though there is no English option, a few of the menu options are in English or have pictures that make navigation somewhat intuitive.

In the end, though, be prepared to dedicate yourself to some extent. It's not a shallow game, with respect to its many options. I've warned others that though it is, in fact, one of the very best games available for the DS worldwide, if you're not willing to put in the effort to familiarize yourself with the many mangas, komas and menu options, the game could easily end up collecting dust on your shelf.

set up the settings manualling then access yourrouter and change the channel to 11
