The politics is not that difficult to work out, by the way - most things not explained during the game by your advisors, ARE explained very effectively in the Encyclopaedia. The Encyclopaedia is the go to resource for all that you require in game. I do think that klaypex777's review is a little harsh and would personally say that Thereisnotri's review is more subjective and accurate. My sincere apologies klaypex777, if I have somehow offended by writing that.
I play both Rome II and Civ5:BNW. I must say that I prefer the TW way of doing things as it is much deeper than BNW's. Politics for instance, or daughters, or spies, all these things and more are much deeper and are more useful in Rome II than in Civ5:BNW. In fact, the lack of being able to recruit spies when I want to recruit them, gets to me in Civ5:BNW. I think I've been spoiled by TW on that front. The games are quite different from each other, though, and yes, I do like BNW and am a fan.
I do suggest you give Rome II a try, but please keep in mind that a game of such scope will take time to be perfected. After all, Civ5 didn't reach it's potential until BNW came on the scene.
