These upgrades from NEO & Scorpio are being done mainly because the VR experience was terrible on both ps4 / X1 ... it will be interesting to see how much better the overall games are between the upgrades and vanilla consoles.
Will be interested to see if Sony bumps up the Neo's specs to match the Scopio. 1 yr head start is big and if the NEO an deliver a smoother, crisper, better lighting experience I think it will do very well. Not sure why so many people complaining about the NEO, if you don't want to upgrade, you still get all the games the upgrade offers.
It will all depend on the performance difference. If NEO can do 1080p @60fps / have better anti aliasing, better lighting more like PC, many people will justify the upgrade. Only time will tell.
It's about the software .... 6 Teraflops is no big deal if there are no good games developed for it. MS has had issues producing 9 and 10 score IP's. Sony might also beef up the NEO specs and there will be awesome games coming out for it.
For some reason I think I heard that the NEO is due out in the fall this year. Andrew House said he was surprised about the Scorpio 1 yr later than their upgrade. I figure its out this year
I am going to wait and buy the "Project Scorpio" from MS ... 6 teraflops of power! ... The NEO is looking at arounf 4.8 TFPS! ... MS is going for the most power, but the cost is going to be high compared to Sony's upgrade. I will get both I guess.
