I need help with Minecraft, Optifine, Forge, Mods

Hi. My Grandson (7yo) and I and big gaming fans.

We love Minecraft among others.

He's a big Sonic fan and Mario.

Anyway. he watches a lot of mincraft mods on youtube and I have been trying to figure out how to do it on our system.I have a couple nice gaming rigs that can handle most anything.these are all geforce gtx grafics cards 1070, and 2080

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070,

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080,

windows 10

all have Minecraft windows10 and Minecraft java

I discovered optifine a few weeks ago and have ben enjoying that on Minecraft java.

last week somehow I managed to install a mod on the Minecraft pc version, it had withstorm and a few othe tweaks, when I reset the machine I lost it and cant figure out how to get it back.

Anyway I need someone who is famliar with Mincraft/Optifine/Forge and Minecraft PC

I was in the middle of reinstalling optifine yesterday when I noticed the files were not .Jar files but >EXE files. on top of that Mincraft java updated to 1.14.1

It seems everyone showing how to do this does it different

I need someone to PLEASE help me.

I need, someone with the knowledge, who is willing to take the time to help us. or show me thge direction for good tutorials

1, install mincraft java 1.14.1 w/ Forge and optifine

2,, install mincraft java 1.14.1 just optifine

3,mods on the minecraft pc edition.

I have gone as far as doing clean installs to rid the machine of any traces of minecraft,optifine or forge.

why is Otpifine now an .exe file how do i use it?

Forge seems to be an .exe file now as well.

is my machine reading these Jar files as exe?

I'm so confused and really desperate.
