Testing at the RichieRichLabs has shown us that Shadow of the Tomb Raider Xbox Series X|S FPS Boost is taking the game up to 4K-60 FPS on the Xbox Series X. This is a nice treat to us next gen owners as well as future owners since it just keeps making the Xbox Series X|S more affordable with the passing of time.

The Xbox Series S is not as impressive delivering us 300p at 30 FPS with Shadow of the Tomb Raider Xbox Series X|S FPS Boost update and since the game has not received optimization for Xbox Series X|S update that could increase the resolution of this game to the Xbox Series S to a higher level, as it is running on Xbox One S settings, nevertheless, it's a welcome upgrade that is free in case we never get an optimized Xbox Series X|S upgrade or remaster in the future.

The Xbox One X has the same game settings as that of the Xbox Series X which are Higher Resolution and Performance mode. FREE XBOX LIVE GOLD IN 2021 on the Xbox Series X are giving us 60 FPS, with the performance mode giving 1080p. This is a mode I do not recommend using unless you need to lock 60 FPS or have a VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) to mask those flaws.

Personally, I don't think too much about it since I do own a VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) television, however, even if it wasn't I wouldn't be concerned about it because the game doesn't drop the FPS frequently and it's not a game that is competitive, so the drops are not so important.

As a side note, VRR won't be sufficient to be sufficient if it fell below 50 FPS often since VRR is able to mask drops of 60 to as low as 50, but not below that or else it would not have any effect, but the drops are rare.

There won't be any graphical changes since this is an enhancement behind-the-scenes of FPS only. I tested the loading and there was no change.

As a side note, I got this game purchased on a sale then did not play it until it became available via the Xbox Game Pass which made me feel stupid to not have waited. I got over it though as it did end up leaving it and I want to own my games as much as possible apart from the Microsoft first party games since they will be in the Xbox Game Pass indefinitely cause Microsoft owns the studio.
