call sony, it sounds like you have done everything. but you can try this one last thing. rest the HDCP copy protection. to do this you need to unplug your tv from the wall for at least 2 mins, do the same for your ps3. Now plug your ps3 into the main hdmi port or first slot. hook everything back up. see if it works. if not call sony.gagit811

Thank you so much. You are the first one to tell me to do something I haven't already tried. I'm definately going to try this once I can get my PS3 back from the shop on Monday. I've never even heard of HDCP copy protection. Here's hoping.

Thanks again.

Its not the PS3. Your TV is damaged. Tell the *genius* at the repair shop that your HDMI worked before and tell him to learn the PS3. I thought it wasnt the PS3. The ps3 has storm resistant eletricity cables and various things like that. Tell him to check your TV. The tvs hdmi port could of broken. If not, then test another PS3 on your TV. Maybe initiate a swap, save your data and do a swap with a friend or so.

I don't understand why you are so sure it's my TV. I said that I tried multiple HDMI ports on my living room TV, then I tried the HDTV in my bed room, and finally the repair shop guys tried multiple TVs in their shop. If it's my TV like you seem to think, why won't the PS3 won't on my other TV? And why is the PS3 only working on SOME of the HDTVs at the repair shop even after doing the "hold the power button for five seconds to reset the resolution" trick on each TV? Please explain.

Power storm? Hmmmmm I would think you have to buy a new cable, or even worse your T.V might be affected, that means you might have to return it and get a new one. My TV is fine with HDMI. Some cables dont work, but you should turn off your TV and your PS3 when a storm comes. You said you used new cables. I would think the PS3 HDMI cable port is damaged, the same happened to my freeview, a storm cam and blew my audio up. I found out my audio port was broken, you might need to replace your PS3. If you do, DONT GET A SLIM.CrysisAero

If the port was damanged it wouldn't work on the TVs at the repair shop, would it? I'm guessing since it works on those that the port is fine even though it only works on some of them. Which is really baffling me. I mean, why is it working on some but not others? But more importantly why isn't it working on mine? :-P

you might have to reset the resolution on your ps3, turn on your ps3 and keep your finger on the power button for like 5 secounds.Javieralijandro

I already tried this. Doesn't work on either on my TVs but works on some of the TVs at the electronics repair shop and not others. WTF does it only work on some of them? And why can't my TV be one of the lucky few?

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP

I had my PS3 plugged up to my Sony Bravia TV through HDMI cables until a couple of nights ago. A bad storm came through here and blew the power. Since then I can't get a picture from my PS3 using the HDMI cables. I've done everything I can think of to remedy this. I plugged the cable into a different HDMI slot on my TV, I used different HDMI cables, I tried switching toa different HDTV,I held down the PS3 power button and told it yes use the HDMI output and I've told it no and tried to change to HDMI after using component cables. Nothing works. I do know that something is getting through to the TV though because an icon appears on my TV's input menu when I turn on my PS3 next to whichever HDMI input I have it plugged up to. Clearly it's something with the PS3 and not the TV or the cables. And yes, I realize after using component cables and telling the PS3 to switch to HDMI that I need to turn the channel on my TV to the HDMI input channel. Nothing works. I need help. Any ideas?

I have since taken in to an electronics repair shop and they discovered that the HDMI will work on some TVs and not others and they have no idea why.
