FiveM is a multiplayer game server that lets you play multiplayer games on dedicated servers. It was designed specifically for creativity. You can design your server and make your dreams become a reality. It offers a variety of tools to personalize the gameplay experience of your server. With FiveM, you are able to create any kind of game including drifting, roleplay, racing, deathmatch, or something completely unique.
This tutorial will show you how we install FiveM on Ubuntu 20.04.
Prerequisites
- A fresh Ubuntu 20.04 VPS on the Atlantic.Net Cloud Platform - A valid domain name that is pointed to your server IP - A root password configured on your server
Step 1 - Create Atlantic.Net Cloud Server
The first step is to log into your Atlantic.Net Cloud Server. Create an entirely new server using Ubuntu 20.04 as an operating system. It should have at least 2GB RAM. Connect to your Cloud Server via SSH, and login using the credentials shown at the top of the page.
Once you are connected to your Ubuntu 20.04 server, run the following command to update your base system with the latest available packages.
Step 2 - Install Required Dependencies
Before you can begin it, you will need to install certain dependencies on your server. The following command will install them all:
Once all the packages are installed, you are able to move on to the next step.
Step 3 Install and configure FiveM
First create a directory for FiveM and then download the latest version of FiveM from the directory.
Once the download is completed, extract the file using the following command:
Next, you will need to download the CFX server data to your system. The following instructions will allow you to download it:
Next, you will need to create an FiveM configuration file.
You can create it using the following command:
Add the following lines, including your FiveM Licence.
When you're done, save and close the file.
Next, you can start the FiveM server using the following command:
Once the server has been started successfully , you should see the following output:
Note: This process could take several minutes to start
To stop the server to stop the server, press CTRL + C.
Step 4 - Create a Systemd Service File for FiveM.
To manage FiveM service, it's an ideal idea to create a systemd service to be created. fivem servers The following command can be used to create it:
Add the following lines:
Save the file and close it. Next, create a FiveM Start script:
Save and close the file and then assign the appropriate permissions:
Then, load the systemd daemon with the following command:
Then, you can start FiveM. Then, you can enable it to begin at system restart.
You can verify the status of FiveM by using the following command:
