@putaspongeon: ya, I kind of would like to just get past such issues. I know its in relation to games, its not about games really. BUT perhaps the more women means more people to make games to which can actually be reported on. Then more stuff for us gamers. wishful thinking I supose.
@olddadgamer: I am not trying to imply that they don't belong in any kind of way, in fact that is great for them, although it doesn't specify that they were the best. It seems pushed because of the content of the article...
"The male gender does not have the monopoly on heroism," Staten said. "Joule is emblematic of this conviction, and we hope she's a character who stands strong and stands out in a market filled with male heroes."
then the talk about how the perception has to change about what we see on screen.
I believe most gamers don't feel this way, they just want good games yet here we are hearing about it.
Although sure, I would agree that more women characters would be good, but let the creators create what they want.... this seems like they are doing it out of some moral obligation.... which I mean doesn't feel natural.
And again, as I said in my first comment, I don't want this to be thought of me detesting women in video games.... because I am not against it in any way. what I find strange is the reasons and the ways that such things are in a way pushed in to industry and news.
Im all for what ever a person wants to create, thats their decision as creators. I am pretty open too, as long as a game is good I don't care. I am sure that is how many gamers feel. Though the push for these types of things don't feel natural, just fake.... like people aren't worried about the games, but rather who has balls or vaginas. I hope this comment doesn't get construed in a way that would seem I against more women in gaming, developing games, or female characters, because that honestly doesn't matter too much to me. Just make good games. This seems to just serve the purpose of stroking some people's egos.
man, I have waaaaaay too many games already. so many from last gen that I still need to beat and more still in this current gen. Ill be fine for quite some time.
