@FasterAgain What on earth are you talking about?

Please either be coherent or don't comment.

@Skyrim25 That isn't really true. The PS3 has 256MB of RAM accessible only from the GPU, whilst the other 256MB of RAM is accessible primarily from the Cell CPU, with a large amount of it being able to be mapped for the GPUs usage if required. The fact that each bank has about the same available bandwidth as the 512MB unified space the XBox 360 has can actually be a great strength.

The issue here is probably a combination of library/engine support and a lack of source profiling on game/world state. It's simply not possible that any particular region of Skyrim requires the entire game state to be completely accessible for decision making.

Additionally, the in-memory state representation may not be optimal...

The claims that the PS3 not having a unified memory model are the cause of this problem are simply ridiculous. If there is a problem maintaining all the world state in memory at the same time, virtual memory is the answer.

Every PS3 ships with storage and swapping out to disk is an option. Further, there's nothing stopping the developer from compressing the world state and putting an SPU to use for compression and decompression duties.

Skyrim doesn't serve as an example of pushing the PS3 overly hard in the compute or graphics department - Rage is one of the few multiplatform games that does. There is headroom that isn't being used in Skyrim.

Here's an idea - how about releasing less downscaled versions of the textures for PC ME3 players as opposed to the low resolution console textures we're currently stuck with? These assets do exist - BioWare simply haven't released them.Further, why are PC players still being treated terribly by BioWare in this regard? No hotkeys for the Journal or Squad screens, no controller support, broken keyboard support in menus, no graphical options and the list goes on.

BioWare/EA make significantly more profit per PC sale than they do from each console sale, yet they still treat their PC customers with complete contempt. This is a worrying trend (Darksiders II is another recent example), with a few studios thankfully doing the right thing and setting an example to be followed (Gearbox, Square Enix, Rocksteady)
