BIAS : PC Gamer all the way, with some PS2 gaming on the side. Gamespot's comparison is not fair to consoles. From Wikipedia : The PlayStation 3 makes use of 256 MB GDDR3 RAM clocked at 700 MHz with an effective transmission rate of 1.4 GHz [3] and up to 224 MB of the 3.2 GHz XDR main memory via the CPU (480 MB max). The XBOX 360 features 512 MB of GDDR3 RAM clocked at 700 megahertz with an effective transmission rate of 1.4 GHz on a 128-bit bus. Gamespot's test PC in this scenario has 1 GB of DDR3. This is double the RAM of the others. IN all fairness, PC here has an advantage over the consoles. I had a 6600GT (128 MB of DDR3) and it was being trounced by these consoles. I now have a 8800GT with 512 MB of DDR3. My brother-in-law's PS3 is just as good. My AGP system was dated 5 years and was not keeping up with recent games, many I couldn't even play. I finally built a gaming PC based on PCI Express, leaving room for improvements later on. I expect it will last a good 3-4 years until an upgrade is necessary. Those who say PC must be upgraded to play games every 6 months need to get their story straight. Bottom line, I LOVE my PC. If I get a console, it would be a PS3 given I own a PS2 and may games I own we will play for years to come. Take your pick and have fun.

I paid 200$ for my latest card, a NVIDIA GT8800. With 512 MB of DDR3, it was a big jump from my old AGP GT 6600 (which had DDR3 also). Benchmarks at the time were putting it real close to the GTX, which was AT THE TIME much more expensive. I built that PCI-Express gaming system for 1000$ Canadian. Playing Fallout 3 and other top notch games without having a slideshow is wonderful. I expect to upgrade when I have to put games at LOW settings to play them.

I'll pass, no thanks. I will probably wait until WinXP and my AGP system becomes obsolete to the point where I can't play any games. Then Vista will be cheap and perhaps have SP2 out and most games running DX10 will be in the bargain bin. Who knows, I might fall into depression and get another hobby and drop games altogether. Games companies and video card companies make it really hard for casual gamers to keep up. Micro$ just wants more money, like all other companies in this capitalist society we live in. So stop complaining and live with it. Its not going to change anytime soon.
