[QUOTE="mine-ish-er"]Yeah, however, God didn't create emotions and thoughts, people create their own... God made physical things (for loss of a better word) and enabled the ability to think, Satan was a quick thinker and learned to love power and became greedy with it.GabuEx

If God did not create emotions, then where did emotions come from?

If we accept the idea that God created everything that exists, then everything that exists ultimately exists because God either created it or created its potential. Otherwise, God did not create everything. So the idea that something exists that God did not want to exist fundamentally makes no sense.

Okay, I'll admit I don't have solid evidence to back that up, but I'm tired and going to bed, 'night allz

[QUOTE="mine-ish-er"][QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"]The question was about Christianity. I don't see the point of just saying "well, none of that stuff is true" when that's not the point of the discussion.Cherokee_Jack
No. The question was why can't God destroy Satan... and it is an answer here: Q: Why can't god just destroy Satan? A: Because Satan is just something made up to scare little children into becoming Christian

The question was about Christianity. Go back and read the OP if you're not clear on what we're talking about.

Honestly? do you not read what you write? The line says: "Can't God just destroy Satan" the only thing about Christianity is that he doesn't know much about it.

Major plot hole.

Shut up!!! if anyone has anything irrelevant, don't speak at all in this discussion!

Yes, because your reply was imperative to the discussion, and considering I'm the closest thing to divine around here anything I say is relative.

To bad that my heroic stature will surely overpower your mocking tone and your selfish desires. (I think that Satan is made up) See? now it is relative at the same time!

Personally, I think it makes much more sense to view Satan as a metaphor than as some actual physical being - that is to say, that Satan is something akin to the personification of the dark, primal urges lurking in every person's heart. Not that Satan is actually some physical being who hates God for some reason. The whole idea makes no sense whatsoever if taken literally; if Satan did indeed rebel against God because of his pride, then that pride must have been given to him by God, given that God created everything that exists, so...

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="mindstorm"] I do not disagree whatsoever. I'm not seeking to manipulate with words, however, but preach what the Bible has to say. Paul wrote to the Corinthian church about this issue. People rose up in the church who taught vain philosophies and against what was said in the scriptures. These false prophets were able to lead people astray simply because of their charismatic nature. Paul responded in saying, "When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power" (1 Corinthians 5:1-5). Some may try to argue that he himself was trying to manipulate these people by claiming the Spirit's power, but he was simply not a good speaker as said elsewhere within scripture. He simply taught what he knew to be true just as I seek to do.

Whether or not that is your intention, your education in philosophy will undoubtedly lead people who would otherwise not have access to equally competitive voices into a jaded view about religion, without having the opportunity to know all the objections to things you say while speaking from the pulpitt. There are not ends all debates for religion, and I know dang well you're not going to present these somewhat damning objections while preaching. Whether or not your intentions are of malice or not I think will be irrelevant. You can't deny the impact of philosophy on simpletons.

That's a little too deep for me.
