I blame the chimps at the marketing department over at EA for marginalizing strategy games to casual players & consoles over the traditional pc crowd. It seems ever since the success of the Wii, publishers are jumping on board to dumb down their games to try and capture that new market of casual gamers. And as a side-effect, hardcore strategy games that can only be done on the pc suffer the most. Sad times indeed for pc gamers.

Why isn't Creative Assembly here with their total war series? If there ever was an ultimate strategy game, they would be the ones to invent it. No one has been able to blend real time and turn-based strategy so well. They certainly deserve more mention than Will Wright. His rush to appeal to casual gamers has stripped any element of strategy from his games.
