Wow that's really weird. You should contact Nintendo with an email because that is outside my realm. And yes, there is a bit many stickies in our humble forum.why is it that when i connect online to mph, and i look at friends online, it never says anyone is on, even when i know there is someone on. Its been doing this all the time lately and it really frustrates me....also, there are way too many stickies in this DS forum

no... even hotspots have to be fully operational with a pc. (or at least I think so)
The router shouldn't need the PC on to work.
oh yeah ? what type of router ( all of them ?). Could you give me the best router model for this thing ?
It's pretty much any router. It's just how they are designed.could you explain to me how it works ?
A router's power is plugged into the wall, as is the modem's and computer's. The router's internet connection is connected to the modem which is connected to the wall. You computer's internet connection is connected to the router with a wire or without and your DS's connection is connected to the router wirelessly.[QUOTE="matthew_senn"] [QUOTE="juanfraino"] [QUOTE="lebanese_boy"]Is there any way for me to play online with my DS without turning on the PC ? lebanese_boy

ok, i have comcast internet and Windows XP. Do i need a router or a USB port? Which one is cheaper and/or easier to getnightclawI'd go the way of the router. Check NintendoWiFi.com for details on which router to buy.
My bedroom is around 70 feet from my PC, thats not gonna work with the USB adaptor is it?anjohlIf it's 70 feet of open air and nothing else, then sure you can play, but I doubt your house is without walls. It probably won't play, but you should give it a shot just in case.
All right. I have one more thing to ask. SHOULD I get the USB Adapter? The reason being is that I don't have a wireless router. And I have Windows XP, so it's a little obvious, no?:P So definitely the USB Adapter... right?:P I may ask for it for my birthday (maybe try and get it as an early birthday gift:P) So is the set up (for WiFi) hard, or easy? Also, what's the biggie on the USB Adapter being only sold at the nintendo online store? Just wondering.dragonlife29I don't have the Nintendo USB Connector because I had a router when the WiFi service became available. I would advise you to get a router (and make sure it's 100% compatible) and not the Connector because I've heard that it might disable a few firewalls make a few new ones; plus with a router, you can use it with all computers you might have at your house, but the Connector only works with the DS. But I'm no expert since I don't have it. Read Gamespot's full review.[QUOTE="phoenixDS"]Hey everyone...this might sound like a really silly question...but i cant find my friend code in Metroid Prime Hunters....can anyone help me? Go to Multiplayer, WiFi Connection, Rivals/Friends, Add Friend. Kinda takes a while to get there.
I really want to get into online play on my DS. But i'm still not sure what to buy. The router or USB Adapter. So far, I feel compelled to buy the USB adapter. But this is my question: (though kinda stupid) Once I buy the USB adapter, can I play the DS anywhere inside my house? Will I have to be in the room where the computer is? Sorry for the dumb question, but I just need to make sure.dragonlife29You don't need to really be in the exact same room sitting at the computer, although being close to the hotspot (the USB adaptor or any router) helps. I guess it matters how big your house is and how thick the walls are. I can play in some rooms of my house, but not all of them because the router is on the farthest end of the house.
OK guys, I'm in some serious need of some help. Here's the situation. I have a wireless enabled laptop which I have set up an ad-hoc connection with my DS, but when I try to connect, I get an error code that tells me the WEP is incorrect. I've tried my own WEP and even disabled WEP altogether, but I it still doesn't work. What's wrong?!Metroidmaniac15That's really weird. Perhaps your computer has a firewall that is blocking the DS or maybe the laptop isn't broadcasting in the B setting (most routers now do G or G/B. You want B or G/B).[QUOTE="Juggernaut587"]This might have been stated before but I was wondering if the wi-fi adapter will be able to work when Windows Vista is released???I would think that it would work considering most things from 98 and ME worked on XP. If it doesn't work immediatley, Nintendo should probably be able to send a simple patch to allow it to work.[QUOTE="tj78714"]i cant connect online at home. i put in everything it says i should WEP key etc etc, and still it wont let me connect. i've looked all over nintendos site and couldnt find anything to help. i have a 2wire router. You probably need to change the WEP code to "Shared." Your default IP adress is http://home , the default user name is None (I'm not sure if it is left blank or the actual name is "None"), and the default password is wireless. But for more complete help go here.
how do i find out my friend code?mrbubbleboymanIt really depends on the game your are playing, but just look around in the Nintendo WiFi Connection part of the game.
