From a web developer's perspective, the site is brilliant. For one the content is much more streamlined, it feels organised and timely rather than having a bunch of redundant links for various gaming platforms.
Alternate takes on reviews was a good touch, the reviewers, I think will finally get to stand out this way and multiple perspectives can't hurt when looking into a game.
- And finally, the site is responsive! That was long overdue.
The only thing I miss from the old GS is the home page slider. It could fit a lot of content into it and that was really cool, convenient even. The current static one, not so much.
To the people that are hating and complaining:
Take a breather and sit back, observe, adapt, learn your way around the new user interface - you're probably a gamer so doing that is far from the hardest thing in the world. Sure, you may not like it at first but people are naturally resistant to change.
Realize that you may rant and rave all you want but the old UI has already been put down and is not coming back. Constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement are more helpful to the development team rather than outright displeasure. I'm sure a lot of time, effort and conscious thought went into the making of the new website.
Ultimately, it remains a video gaming website that does best what it's supposed to do, regardless of how it looks.
I rarely comment on video reviews but this review, I feel, was too brief, hurried and uncompelling. It wasn't as immersive as other reviews and it felt hurriedly done, like just to get it out there so that Gamespot aren't left behind.
And three minutes? Really? This is not like GS at all. Bioshock Infinite - 8:00 Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon - 6:38 Hitman Absolution - 6:20
It was poor and it should be redone. By Kevin Van0rd perhaps?
