I remember buying the 40g launch PS3. That POS broke three times on me, and the third and final was when it was out of warranty (after a year). I was stuck with it as a rather large paper weight. Im definitely waiting longer this time around. That was a 400 dollar hit
Despite these "flaws" I think I am still enthused about this hardware. I think Nintendo has proven with the Wii that its not about technical prowess so why would they abandon that business model? Clearly, the demographic they seek is not the core/hardcore gamers (ex; seen on this site). I do miss the days where Nintendo was a technical powerhouse but today that market is dominated by MS Sony and PC. This model allows them to tap into that different demographic and allows it to be differentiated from the competition... and lets face it, price is #1 now amongst consumers. Only serious gamers are going to shell out 500+ for the next gen MS/Sony consoles.... So I agree its frustrating that Nintendo is not concerned about releasing a truly next-gen console but it makes sense to me why... In 2 years it will be the same as the Wii in terms of where it is lacking or hell it may already be there...
